Do you want to publish a novel that keeps readers turning the pages late into the night?
Then don’t let errors in your text give them a reason to stop.
How I Can Help …
I’m Cally Worden, and I’m a professional fiction editor. I work with independent authors and use a range of smart editorial strategies to help them create seamless, engaging stories – with no distractions.
You know what I mean. Those niggly things that can slip through, such as minor inconsistencies in your plot, characterisation or dialogue. And pesky errors in spelling and grammar. Distractions that interfere with the flow of your story.
All good writers get them. The best know that editing is essential if you are to catch and correct such errors, and keep those pages turning.
I work primarily with writers of mysteries and thrillers. Those who create books filled with suspense and drama and crime. Often with plenty of psychological head-twisting madness thrown in for good measure.
How I Do It …
Editing is an art in itself and, to be done well, requires good training. I completed mine (copy-editing and proofreading) with the highly regarded UK Publishing Training Centre, and I’m always keeping on top of my skills with further training.
In addition, I’m a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, which is the most widely respected organisation for editorial professionals in the UK. Any work I do is conducted in accordance with their Code of Practice. Because I’m professional like that.
I know what good writing looks like, and how to create it. I’m trained in journalism, have worked as a freelance writer, and I have both fiction and non-fiction writing published on the web, in national glossies, and with traditional publishers.
I can help you make your novel stand out from the rest by working to eliminate those little errors that can make a big difference. Together we can ensure your novel is the very best it can be before your readers even get their hands on it.
Attention to detail is the key to creating a page-turner.
A Bit About Me …
I’ll always be a Brit at heart, but for the last 12 years I’ve worked freelance from my home in France, where I live with my husband, two children, and our loopy black Labrador.
I keep a tiny-but-tidy office space with a view that’s uncluttered and green. My office is a haven where I can focus, and lose myself in my work.
In your novel.
When I’m not working I clear my head with a bike ride in the local countryside, or I’ll indulge in some sketching or painting. I can give the surrealists a run for their money, but if I’m honest that’s not always intentional.
Help Yourself …
If you’re ready to give your novel that final pre-publication polish then take a look at my Editorial Services pages.
I offer a range of services because every author, and every novel, is unique. Decide which is the best fit for you and get in touch. And if you’re not sure, drop me a line anyway.
I’d love to hear from you.
